Did you get to this page wondering why you found the pick where you did? Are you wondering how it got there? Who was Kaj, and why did he have guitar picks? Let’s have a look at these questions and give you some answers.

I am Kaj’s father. Kaj Seifert was an artist and musician from Bozeman, Montana, USA. He lived a wonderful life. Growing up in Montana’s beautiful Gallatin Valley he embraced all of the wonderful experiences of growing up on a small ranch, playing baseball with his friends, and making music in his high school marching band and symphony. But mostly, he excelled at guitar. He enjoyed following me to gigs across the state and learned to set stages, wrap cords, and haul equipment at a young age. Eventually he became a side man in many bands and came to be well respected as a guitarist and band mate. Like so many aspiring musicians he also need a job that paid real money.

He became a licensed pilot and flew corporate jets for a few years until the economic downturn in 2009 became a downturn for pilots, too. He and a friend started a successful business that allowed him to continue to play music as well as travel. Kaj passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2020. In his honor his mother and I started the Kaj Seifert Foundation for Aspiring Young Artists to help young artists find their voice and passion in the arts.

As a way to “share Kaj with the world,” we came upon the idea of placing “Kaj Picks” in various places that reminded us of Kaj, the places he loved, or even places we knew he would appreciate had he had the opportunity to visit. And now, you have found a place that, hopefully, will remind you of the wonderful, loving, caring, adventuresome spirit that was Kaj.

Now, we’d like to know a little bit from you. Tell us where you found your Kaj Pick and a little bit about yourself and why you were there.
